Au Pair Rates

Au pairs’ hourly rates are between R75 – R100 per hour depending on hours worked and experience.

Nannies work on a monthly Salary of approximately R3000-R6000 if employed full time. Experience & Qualification dependant.

Tutors charge on average R100 - R250 per hour depending on hours required and number of children taught.

Most families looking for permanent placements prefer to pay monthly salaries as it eliminates the fuss of daily or weekly paydays.

Your Requirements:

Moms' needing an au pair or nanny during this time usually have babies who are not yet at school and would like their little ones to be stimulated with activities such as songs, puzzles, texture play with different textures, messy play, stories and fantasy play. This allows for a structured morning and keeps tiny tots stimulated while mom is out as well as keeping with their routine (meals/feeds and nap times).

Parents needing assistance with fetching and carrying from school and to extra mural activities would need an au pair during afternoons. Children’s homework (if any) will be supervised and completed as well as taking trips to the library for projects and assignments, children will also be stimulated with activities throughout afternoon while keeping with their afternoon routine. You may want to allow for one afternoon a week to be a “Fun day” where the children are taken on an outing by their au pair. Some parents may need au pair to bath and feed children supper as they arrive home quite late from work.

Families with school going children often need assistance with the school or extramural run. Lift Club au pairs can assist with school collection in the mornings and/or afternoons, take the child/ren to extramurals and drop off at home. Lift club au pairs are a great alternative to realying on friends and family.

Full Days

Parents who work full day and have young children not yet at school or who have a child that attends school and one that is still at home would opt for a full day au pair or a nanny, as well as parents who need assistance during school holidays. Nannies generally work full day either caring for young children all day, or assisting with housework whilst children are at school/down for a nap can and provide family meals.

We encourage our au pairs to be as flexible as possible so once you have decided on your au pair you can discuss working hours and times that are convenient for your family.

We have found it more cost effective and viable to for families needing ad hoc babysitting to charge an annual babysitting fee of R500, where after the family is provided with a basic profile list of available au pairs willing to do afterhours babysitting in the area. Please ensure you let the girls know that you received their details from us.
